Childhood Disintegrative Disorder
Childhood Disintegrative Disorder is a rare condition that was described before autism but not officially recognized until recently. Children with CDD typically have clearly normal development until ages two to four year at which point they develop autistic like behavior.
The child has a normal development in language, toileting and social interactions. As the disorder develops language skills and self-care abilities are lost. The child begins to look like they have autism. It is generally believed that the prognosis for this disorder is worse than that for autism.
